Ross Goode is a native of the South African highveld and
has had a lifelong passion for all things natural. Before dedicating his career
to guiding Ross’s capable intellect was challenged by studying microbiology and
biochemistry after which he spent five years working as aflavourist and
biochemist. His time in the lab was complimented by studying a diploma in
wildlife and conservation and it was then that Ross decided to abandon this
highly skilled profession in favor of a career in guiding. He began his guiding
endeavors at one of the most exclusive lodges in South Africa where he gained
invaluable experience in the joys of sharing wildlife and especially birds with
others. Ross is now renowned among his peers for his astounding knowledge of
Africa’s avifauna and his competencies in botany. His enviable experience in
tracking dangerous game and handling groups on big game walking safaris has
equipped Ross with excellent leadership abilities. His contagious enthusiasm,
passion for birding and his personable character make Ross nothing short of an
excellent leader.
"Ross’s ability to locate, call in and identify was – to use
two of hisfavourite words – “amazing” and “unbelievable”. We appreciated his
extensive skills in ecology, botany, mammals, etc. as well as birds. Ross was a
delight to be around. His enthusiasm, energy and sense of fun were limitless. He
worked hard at meeting the needs of all his clients, despite the incredible
variety of their expectations, knowledge, skill – and personalities. We couldn’t
have asked for a better introduction tour to South Africa and its diverse
birdlife!"
