Comparatively little known, Bolivia is nevertheless considered one of South America’s birding hotspots. The nation’s avifauna is influenced by the incredibly diverse bio-geographic regions that converge here: Amazonian rainforests, the Cerrado, Grand Chaco, Yungas cloudforests and Puna. In addition, altitudes range from 300 to over 21,000 feet! Bolivia boasts over 1,350 bird species including 23 of the 25 Neotropical endemic families and 18 endemics. Our tour kicks off in the city Buena Vista, from where we begin birding in a variety of exciting forests and woodlands. Around Villa Tunari we visit a colony of unique Oilbirds in Carrasco National Park and here seek the brilliant Andean Cock-of-the-Rock. Cochabamba allows explorations of the surrounding slopes offering a fantastic range of altitudes and birds including the impressive Giant Hummingbird and Cochabamba Mountain Finch. Our final few days will be spent around La Paz where we will bird the incredible La Cumbre Pass and the rugged Altiplano around the famed Lake Titicaca. Three species of flamingo can be found together in this region! With welcoming and friendly people, spectacular landscapes, great accommodation and unbeatable birding, Bolivia is bound to be an all-time favourite tour!
