We are pleased to be offering Jamaica as one of our new travel destinations! David Shackelford recently completed a tour to this mountainous island offering a vast diversity of habitats from the evergreen forests of the Blue Mountains to the beaches and ultramarine waters of the coast. We successfully located all 28 of Jamaica’s endemic birds whilst allowing time to soak in the unique atmosphere of the personalized lodges and resorts where we stayed, and sampled some fine river-rafting and scuba diving. A few avian favorites included the Red-billed Streamertail often feeding in local gardens, Jamaican Owl caught in the spotlight, excellent views of a perched Crested Quail-Dove, the robust Chestnut-bellied Cuckoo lumbering through the canopy, many cute Jamaican Todies along with a host of supporting near-endemics and North American migrants. Jamaica offers an unbeatable combination of diverse habitats, great accommodations, beautiful mountains and beaches, and excellent birding opportunities. Please contact us for further information about Jamaican travel opportunities.
